Personally, I took piano lessons for a while. I really didn’t enjoy it much and my parents didn’t give me a hard time about quiting. Looking back, I wish they put up a little more resistance with letting me out of it so easily.

I would recommend going to a smaller instructor where they might let you both take the lessons together at first and then split later.

In New Braunfels, Texas, Joy Sounds Music School has a very friendly family atmosphere. The two instructors are husband and wife with a resume and experience to fill volumes.
